The Leading Lady Challange: An Education.

 

For this sewalong I was inspired by the clothes of a film set in the early 60s in England, “An Education”. The protagonist, played by Carey Mulligan, thanks to the encounter with a thirty fascinating man of worldly life, she begins to show off a variety of clothing that may be very fashionable today.
I started with a pattern found on Burda this month, I revisited by replacing a full skirt, with a closer and more flared. The fabric that I chose, is not exactly what I wanted, I would have preferred a floral print. But this cotton is really a good quality and I liked the vintage pattern.

 

Per questo sewalong mi sono ispirata ai vestiti di un film ambientato nei primi anni ’60 in Inghilterra, “An education”. La protagonista, interpretata da Carey Mulligan, grazie all’incontro con un trentenne dalla vita mondana, comincia a sfoggiare una serie di abiti che potrebbero essere molto di moda oggi . Ecco qualche esempio:

Sono partita da un modello trovato su Burda di questo mese, che ho rivisitato sostituendo un’ampia gonna, con una più stretta e svasata. La stoffa che ho scelto, non è esattamente quella che cercavo, avrei preferito una stampa floreale. Ma questo cotone è veramente di una buona qualità e la fantasia vintage mi piaceva molto.

My Burda Style: Maggio

Ecco uno dei modelli del nuovo numero di Burda che preferisco. Non sembra difficile, devo trovare una nuova stoffa per realizzarlo.

Per l’estate, che per me comincerà presto (con una settimana ad inizio giugno a Formentera!), ho scelto questi modelli, anche se mi sembra complicato realizzare gonna e vestito con il punto elastico. Forse meglio partire dai pantaloni o dal top incrociato che sembrano più semplici. Purtroppo quando vedo le spiegazioni di Burda mi avvilisco sempre, i pattern comprati online sono molto più indicati per chi non ha delle solide basi di cucito.

Per finire, ho scovato un nuovo sew-along a cui potrei partecipare nelle prossime settimane. Si tratta di Project Sewn e alla quarta edizione che inizierà il 5 maggio, parteciperà anche una delle mie blogger e designer preferite, Trine di Groovy Baby and Mama.

Ecco il calendario di questa nuova serie:

Week #1 (May 5th): The Leading Ladies Challenge—make a look inspired by a leading lady from the movies.  (This doesn’t mean it has to be an exact replica, although it can be, but it only needs to be “inspired” by your feature film leading lady!)

Week #2 (May 12th): Floral Frenzy Challenge–florals are all the rage this spring, so make an outfit that is inspired by this Spring trend.

Week #3 (May 19th): Going Global Challenge—make an outfit inspired by a country.  (Again, there is no need to make a native costume…it can be a look inspired by the look, feel, culture, food, architecture, etc. from the country of your choice.)

Week #4 (May 26th): Signature Style Week—make an outfit that is all your personal signature style.  (Showcase your style, your strengths, and your personal sewing preferences.)

Per il tema della prima settimana mi piacerebbe ispirarmi alla protagonista del film “An Education”. Che ne dite?
